I was just at The Cross Design in Yaletown on the hunt for a birthday present, and lo and behold, they’re selling a few Hugo Guinness pieces! I just read about this artist in last month’s issue of Vogue. He has a very distinct style – bold lines, minimal, somewhat childlike and it was really awesome to see some of his artwork up close and in a local design boutique.
Hugo Guinness was born in London and lives in New York. Much of his work has appeared in the New York Times, The New Yorker, Vogue, and as well as films including Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums. He is an artist, writer, designer and model.
He was the voice of Bunce in Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009).
And he collaborated with Coach for some artful handbags and accessories.
The pieces at The Cross were going for about $595.00. It’s a bit pricey, but definitely something I wouldn’t have a problem putting some money towards.
